Dapoxetine is the generic name of a new generation of SSRIs
(Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors). Dapoxetine is an
antidepressant by nature. Scientists knew that SSRIs are having a
property of decreased libido and delay in the ejaculation.
Earlier known as LY 210448; Dapoxetine was marketed by Eli Lily as
antidepressant. Lily then sold the patent to Johnson and Johnson.
This company marketed Dapoxetine as a drug for premature ejaculation
since then. FDA clearing is pending for Dapoxetine, which if
approved, would become the first prescription item for consumption
indicated to treat premature ejaculation (PE).
The drug is not produced in the United States officially. Some of
the European countries have cleared that. However, Dapoxetine is
freely available in the eastern part of the globe.
